So last night, I had left my computer in sleep.

As I'm leaving the house for work this morning, it's powercycling on and off (on about 10 secs, off, on again etc..).  Turned the power strip off for a few mins, back on, PC boots for about 30 secodns, then back into the power loop.  USB devices light up, no signal makes it to monitor, but monitor does turn on.  Both the power supply and motherboard are still under warantee.. but I'm not sure how to determine if its the power supply or the Mo. Board without trying a new PSU.

I guess I could get lucky and the ram's not seated right or something, I'll have to see when I get a chance to look at it later this week.

That hardly qualifies as a boom.  It's more of a whirr-click-pause whirr-click-pause.

My old desktop used to do something similar, I can't remember for the life of me what the cause was though, sorry Seran.

Will post, and will sometimes get all the way to windows but eventually will power off and try to turn back on.

I tried:

-Re-seating everything (except the CPU, I can't find my thermal paste)
-Tried to boot from my second hard drive (made it the master and unplugged other)
-Tried one stick of ram at a time
-Double-checked bios settings, everything is same (mostly default)

I don't have another power supply laying around to try it out, but I did hear that Geek Squad will test a PSU for free, will check with them tomorrow, if that doesn't fix it I may be calling ASUS.
