I downloaded WoW 4.0.1, and tried to install.  The install gets to 2 or 3% and then I get a BSoD referencing something like KERNAL_INPAGE_ERROR or something.  And then when my computer reboots, it can't find the Operating System.  So I shut down again, restart again, and the first thing after the Dell symbol (no non-constructive comments about hardware issues please) load bar is a blank prompt that says "Predicted SMART Failure on Hard Disk" and then my Hard Drive ID, and then press <F1> to continue.  This has happened every time I try to patch WoW.  I really don't want to delete WoW and reinstall, but I can't really think of any good options here.  Anyone have an idea?

Disregard this post, I deleted all the temp files and then ran the updater without opening it through the Launcher, and it seems to be working.  It's at 13% now, I'll repost here if another error occurs.

Of course after I write that, it Blue Screens...  No clue what the hell is going on.

May be related to multi-sampling settings, Teo, according to a blue post somewhere on the beta forums.

Whoops, forgot about this thread for a while.  I eventually got it to install all the way, still not sure what the problem was.  My computer still boots up to a screen warning me about imminent hard disk failure.  Any way to suppress that warning (since I'm reasonably sure it's full of shit)?

You have scanned for bad sectors, right?

Matt, I'm guessing that's a message from the SMART system.  Hard disks record a variety of data about themselves and store it, including bad writes, unreadable sectors, etc.  If your BIOS is telling you that your hard disk could fail, you may want to look into it further.

You could snag a copy of Norton Ghost and image your drive to a new HDD and not miss a beat.
