DYNAMIC ENTERANCE!
Crysis

Beat the game my first night with it. Very short but very rewarding experience. I really really liked gameplay, though the ending boss battle was a bit trivial.
Wish there would have been even more angry North Korean killing and less Alien killing though. I honestly just wanted it to be over when there no more North Koreans left.
The graphics are of course fantastic. Unfortunately, with my loathing of Vista I can only put the graphics to High.
Part of me thinks Vista isn't worth the trouble to see those settings hit Very High with DX10. But the other part of me thinks I want to see if I still run smooth as butter with that on. I think I might.
e6550 Duo Core 2.3 overclocked to 3.1 ghz
3gigs 800mhz Corsais XMS
x2 Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb
I might run out of video memory.. I sure hope not.

I was going to get it, but I kind of reneged on it last-minute. I do want to know what the engine is like, since EA's using it for Tiberium later in 2008.

Game was awesome 2/3 of the way through... then it started to suck...pretty much once you get out of the alien ship.
Graphics? AMAZING... unfortunately I can only run it with high/low settings even with a 7800gt. (everything on high except shaders and shadows... the only ones that make a difference graphically of course.)
AI? AI was pretty damn good... if you look past close combat. they use real tactics, try to flank you, talk to each other, poke around in the brush where they last saw you... because you cloaked and ran away... react to sounds in the brush. But honestly, when I uncloak next to one i would expect him to look surprised and shoot at me... or something... but instead he just keeps running by.
Story was pretty good, game play was good, graphics were great, pretty much everything is descructable. overall the game is a bit over hyped, but it was fun.
and onto system performance: runs 10-15% better in a 64bit OS, utilizes 2 cpu cores (a lot of rumors suggested >4 cores, but recent tests have shown it to only utilize 2), Runs a bit better on XP, than vista (no suprises there), you can also enable the "DX10 only" (read vista only) features in XP, through simple game config changes.
i wouldnt suggest playing the game unless you have a high end graphics card.
Meaning a minimum of 8800gts 320, or ATI 2900/38**

I play most of these new games on PS3 anyway. I'm waiting till computers have a chance to catch up and exceed consoles, as the cycle goes.

Catch up?
Well, technically PCs have already surpassed the PS3 and Xbox360 in terms of graphical abilities.

They've also Surpassed the PS3 and Xbox360 when it comes to price ranges in upgrading your computer so you CAN play games with the full graphical abilities

perhaps... although crysis is really the only game on the market right now that pushes the hardware enough to warrant a 8800/2900/3800.
And even then, you can get them for less than the price of a 360.
8800gt 512mb and 3870 are only $249
3850 can be had for less than $200
A barebones xbox360 is $279
So really... the high cost for upgrading only comes for people buying bleeding edge graphics cards... like the 8800ultra... which i really dont understand at all. Thats why there are still people with S939 systems with AGP.

Fine; I'm waiting until
mainstream
computers surpass consoles. You know, the kind normal people are likely to buy.
