Since my new PC arrived (it was somehow cheaper to buy a PC from a web based company than to buy the components separately and put it together myself) I've been playing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic like a crazy man.

I really love this game. I haven't touched multiplayer because STEAM is claiming that my CD-Key is already taken and since I don't have the receipt I can't do anything about it (buggery). I'm not sure why this game got so many average reviews. The four endings were all very anti-climactic but other than that it's a very enjoyable ride.

Has anyone else played it? It's a fairly high-spec game if you want to play it with a decent frame rate.

I'm guessing you either don't like Dark Messiah or believe that I should have gone and put my PC together myself despite that being the more expensive option.

So, Mr. McDohl, if you're a hard core Might and Magic fan who believes that M&M should never have been taken away from the original RPG/strategy formulas then fine, but this is an awesome game.

And if it's about the PC then... well no one ever saved money by spending more than they had to.

Or if this is about the watermelons on your helipad then... well I've got two equalisers who are willing to talk to you about it at noon, Sherrif!

Total cost of ownership for computers such as Dells tend to be higher than properly built custom computers.  You have not saved yourself money.  That is, unless you can't build a computer, then it's not quite so bad.

He also said it was from a web based company.  Thats hit or miss, but im betting its not one of the big builders.

ive gone through DM a couple times its good, but i dont keep into it for very long.
even on my older system (centrino T2050 cpu 1.6ghz 2 cores, 2gigs ram, geforce 7600) i can run it full graphics options with modest AA and it runs smooth, however load times are a bit on the long side due to slower hdds
other than poor endings (as much as you can call them that (see opening sequence))
i found it enjoyable.
multiplayer i found ran slow at least connection side, its alright depending on how into it you want to get. for certain classes you can spend the entire map time before you can do anything with power and accuracy (magic projectiles)
a few new powers/ability's here and there. depending how many people you are playing with and if they have a level of skill close to your's potentially a lot of fun, or very frustrating.

I bought my computer from the guys/gals at Crystech. I priced up the same computer specs using parts from local computing stores, overclockers, ebay, etc. But somehow it was still cheaper to go for the pre-built model at Crystech. They let you customise the build of your computer on their site too (to a point) similar to the way Dell does.

Don't worry, I'm in no hurry to buy a pre-built system from Dell.

I know this breaks one of the fundamental rules of the universe but it did save me money.

Back onto the subject of the game itself...
I thought the story was excellent apart from the endings. Playing the game on hard mode was a little too challenging (ghouls, vampire knights, hordes of orcs... argh! Especially ghouls!), I've yet to try it on hardcore mode. Also I haven't tried many spell-abilities yet; I've mostly tried archery, stealth, and kick-in-the-door.
