Post your favorite inspiring, intimidating, or amusing quotes.  By which I mean famous or at least well-known excerpts from a real person's spoken word.

I was going to start it off with a good amusing quote, but I can't find it documented anywhere, so this is a paraphrase.

"For everything you do, you should have a hat to do it with.  If you run around with a 7-inch knife in your hand, people think you're a sociopath.  But do it with a chef's hat on..." --Buckskin Bill

"By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher."  - Socrates

"Act that your principle of action might safely be made a law for the whole world. "  - Immanuel Kant

"True anarchy begins when upon seeing a crime being committed, the response is no longer 'Do not do that, it is against the law', but rather, 'Do not get caught doing that!'" -Caius Brittanicus.

"Without war, people grow torpid in riches and comfort, and lose the power of thinking and feeling nobly; they get brutal, and fall back into barbarism." -- Fyodor Dostoevsky

I had to look up this quote again after I thought of it earlier when a car with a shitload of "Give Peace a Chance" bumper stickers cut me off on the way to class.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

"There is much to be said for brevity." - anonymous?

Found this one while trying to figure out who said the former:

"The best threats are like a quality woman; veiled, subtle and with stillettos."  (a James Bond quote I would imagine)
