You should check out League of Legends...I play it all day, and it's made by the guys who did DoTA.

I could never buy a game that shortens to LoL.  Just on principle.  I'm waiting for a good Defense of the Galaxy map/mod now that SC2 is out.

LoL is free, afaik.  HoN, on the other hand, is not, but is a superior product than LoL.

I played the open beta with only a handful of Dota experiences, and am good at neither.  My brother plays HoN all the time, and was pretty good at the ol' Dote.

On a semi-related topic, Starcraft 2 is now every game in the history of gaming.  I played Tic-Tac-Toe in SC2 back in beta.  Possibilities: Endless.
