Who knows.  I figured the game would have no space control at all and I still want to play it.

This is pretty much exactly what I assumed it was going to be anyway, and then I learned that the engine is actually able to handle players flying around of their own volition, so who knows. I'd be happier with the second, but its not like I need it to enjoy the game. :V

I'm holding out hopes for PvP space combat, but it won't ruin the game for me if it's just a rails minigame.

A seperate Starfox-esque game really isn't a terrible addition to a great (hopefully!) ground game.  I can't complain.  It also makes the possibility for some largely scripted events in the future...which would be neat!

It tickles me pink to see the news post reference X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and not Teo's preferred space sim.

In other news, I don't think Bioware would do that to its playerbase, but the company has said before that they were focusing less on mechanics and gameplay and more on story.  I'm in it for the story, but I wouldn't mind a smaller, mini-game-esque space sim.

It's all logic and reason now.  Science and progress.  Tsk tsk.  Laws of hydraulics.  Laws of social dynamics.  Laws of this, that, and the other.  No place for three-legged cyclopes in the South Seas.  No place for cucumber trees or oceans of wine.  No place for me!

Just remember the world of this far back in the Old Republic.  There's enough of an emphasis on ground based and Ship Boarding battles to warrant providing your soldiers with personal energy shields, at a great cost.  In this environment, ship battles are more about large scale operations, like a naval battle, than they are about small ship combat.  Even a ship like the Ebon Hawk is more of a passenger mover/smuggling operation that anything else.  This is ~4000 years before the Battle of Yavin.  Space battles are more about control of planets, blockades, etc.. the big technology is more reserved for the big ships, as in capital ships.

That said, I've been wanting a new Rogue Squadron'esk game for years, if that's simmilar to what it has (i.e. mostly ground based flight missions etc..), then I couldn't be happier.

Although, It would be very nice to be able to actually control your ship in everyday environment, instead of just using a 'star map' type system to transit planet to planet.

Pink because you're a fag.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  I keed.

Honestly, I was in SWTOR for the story, and that remains true.  Space combat is an after-effect for me.  I'm not expecting super awesome gameplay, but I am expecting some super awesome plots.

Real men wear pink.  As proof of this, I submit to you that the dominant color in Teowned.jpg is, in fact, pink.  Oh yes, I went there.

What Seran brought up about boarding and invading has piqued my interest.  I suppose I could do without dogfighting if it meant my smuggler could sneak into a Sith Interdictor and release a ton of Gizka into the reactor core.

Some of the SWG-fanboy comments are just precious.

I think I'd still prefer a Battlefront-style mechanic, with more focus on boarding and engaging the enemy face to face, but as Bunny said above, it's not going to ruin the game for me.
